-Eve the Awakening Synopsis
I am so excited to be reviewing Eve the Awakening by Jenna Moreci. As most of you may know from my social media, I am OBSESSED with Jenna Moreci (in like a non-serial killer way). Her writing vlogs are dynamic and she is just so funny. I got to tell you all though I was really scared to read this book.
To be 100% honest when I purchased this book I didn’t totally understand what it was about besides what was in the synopsis. You know how they say you should never meet your heroes, well I felt like reading a hero’s book that they created was an extreme of that. I bought it though because Jenna Moreci has really inspired me to continue with my passion for writing, and I wanted to buy the book so I could remember how much she inspired me. I did not realize she was also really talented though. I really, really loved the book and recommend it highly.
I really liked how much added detail she put into the story to make it authentic. It is set in the future and so Jenna has developed slangs and catchphrases that are not common now. It is kind like how in the 80’s the word ‘totally’ started to get used a lot. It was cool to see even something that small she could have not done that she added something to make it real. Jenna also put in some fantastic scenes that were absolutely gorgeous, and emotion driven. The plot was done phenomenally well.
The only thing I would have changed at all was make some of the character’s just a little more three dimensional. I think the love interest could’ve been just a little less perfect. Most of the characters are well done, just some of the secondary characters could be just a little bit less of their stereotype as well (blonde heiress, gay best friend).
I would recommend this book to everyone, just as I would recommend Jenna Moreci’s Youtube channel to everyone. You would especially like this book if you are interested in Sci-fi, strong female characters, and ones with positive moral themes. Themes such as don’t be a racist idiot, or try not to be a jerk for no reason.
